SCS SB 421 -- LIQUOR SALES

SPONSOR:  Mathewson (Byrd)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Judiciary
by a vote of 16 to 2.

This substitute changes from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. the starting
time on Sundays for intoxicating liquor by the drink to be sold
on property in Jackson County that is primarily used for
professional sporting events.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the substitute would bring
Kansas City sports venues in line with St. Louis sports venues.

Testifying for the bill were Senator Mathewson; and Kansas City
Chiefs.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
